In this class, we will talk about voting. Associations hold a vote for many reasons, but most often they relate to amending governing documents and electing or removing members of the board. We will discuss state legal requirements / guidelines and talk about common governing document provisions that are written in a way that only a Latin-fluent community association lawyer could interpret. The concept of “quorum” will be discussed and when it is and when it is not applicable to the vote. We will talk about the concept of “eligible voters” and suspending membership rights to vote.
