In Case of Emergency (for Board Members)

In Case of Emergency.jpeg

In this class, we will address an increasingly common phenomenon—homeowners who are disruptive or even dangerous. This class goes beyond the “meeting martial arts” and “how to run a meeting after check-in” classes and discusses when law enforcement or the courts need to be brought in to resolve an owner issue. We will discuss restraining orders and injunctive relief, as well as how to appropriately limit contact with these difficult people. We will discuss applicable criminal statutes and common governing document provisions that may allow some relief. We will briefly discuss concealed carry handgun issues and the liability of prohibiting firearms in common areas. David Parker, a Moeller Graf attorney and retired law enforcement officer of many years, has contributed greatly to the development of this class.
