HB 19-1212 Vetoed

Gov. Polis vetoed his first bills since taking office, that included HB 19-1212, which would have recreated the community association manger licensing program. In justifying his veto, Gov. Emotional Support Animals

“The rise of emotional support animals has created confusion among community associations on whether pet restrictions in the covenants or rules and regulations are enforceable. Further, this confusion is exacerbated by fraudulent claims by homeowners that pets are emotional support animals to skirt those very same restrictions. HB19-1212 – CAM Licensing Back on the Horizon

CAM Licensing was sunsetted on July 1, 2018. However, licensing requirements form community association managers may come back if Colorado General Assembly has their way. HB19-1212 would reinstated CAM licensing requirements as they existed on June 30, 2018 with additional amendments and an extended sunset date of September 1, 2024.
